I received a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Texas in 1975. After working as an R.N. in intensive care I began looking for "another way" to treat patients and their illnesses. At that time, my only experience with complementary medicine was the herbal therapy I witnessed while in the Peace Corps in South America.
In 1983 I was introduced to acupuncture through a course taught at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston. Immediately I knew this style of care was a perfect fit with my philosophy of patient care. In 1986 I completed my Master of Acupuncture degree at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute. I have been licensed as an acupuncturist since 1986.
My post-graduate studies are varied and include herbal studies with Ted Kaptchuk, extensive work in Japanese acupuncture with Koei Kuahara in Boston at the New England School of Acupuncture and the teachers of the Toyo Hari Association in Japan.
I am currently on the executive board of the Maine Association for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
My homeopathic education began in 1997 when I studied with Luc DeShepper. I have completed the Teleosis program in Boston with several teachers including Joel Kreisberg, Simon Taffler, and Asa Hershoff.
